6th Degree Black Belt, Kenpo Dynamics
4th Degree Black Belt American Kenpo Karate
2nd Degree Black Belt, American Chuán Fa

Amrik Singh is a highly respected martial artist, innovator, and educator who has made significant contributions to the fields of Kenpo Dynamics, blending traditional martial arts with American Chuán Fa biomechanics to enhance performance, longevity, and overall well-being. His unique approach integrates principles from Eastern martial arts and Western scientific insights, offering a holistic perspective on movement and physical health.

Born in Powadra, Punjab India, Amrik was educated at Teesside University and then worked in computer science at the beginning of the internet at Rutherford Appleton Laboratories dealing with data analysis and systems management for many of the UK’s Universities and CERN Laboratory. He moved to the southwest of England in 1992 and continued his work in the IT support industry where he currently runs an independent IT Support business in Seaton, Devon. In 2019, he was elected to Seaton Town Council and became the Mayor of Seaton in 2022 following a simple motto ‘If you want something to happen, make it happen’.

Guided by his natural curiosity for physical movement and martial arts, Amrik began his training at a young age, studying various styles of traditional martial arts, including Karate, Aikido, Kick Boxing, and Taekwondo until he eventually found a deep connection with Ed Parker’s Kenpo Karate Kenpo in 1992. Kenpo is a dynamic martial art known for its focus on rapid, fluid movements, resonated with Amrik due to its emphasis on adaptability, speed, and power. He earned the rank of Fourth Degree Black Belt under the British Kenpo Karate Union. He also developed an interest in Chuán Fa, the Chinese martial art with a rich history and an emphasis on circular motion, balance, and self-discipline,

As Amrik advanced in his martial arts career, he noticed a gap in many martial arts systems: the lack of scientific understanding regarding how the body moves, what kind of training leads to injuries, and how martial artists can maintain optimal health and longevity. This realization led him to delve deeper into biomechanics, the study of the mechanical laws relating to the movement or structure of living organisms. This search led him to meet MSU Ambassador Ed Parker Jr, in Jersey in 2000, who introduced Dr Chapél’s SubLevel 4 Kenpo which contained the missing biomechanical information he was looking for. To learn more, he travelled to Los Angeles in 2000 and met Dr Chapél for the first time and started his journey studying American Chuán Fa. Using the biomechanics of American Chuán Fa which emphasizes the importance of proper body alignment, force generation, and joint protection, Amrik began to develop the style of Kenpo Dynamics where he is the head instructor and Sixth Degree Black Belt. Kenpo Dynamics’s techniques adhere to biomechanical principles, introduce more efficient, low-impact movements that reduce stress on joints and tissues, while maintaining the power and fluidity that Kenpo is known for. It also emphasizes the importance of mindfulness in martial arts, which not only improves technique but also aids in injury prevention.

Amrik continues to train, teach and develop Kenpo Dynamics. His club Kenpo Dynamics is an affiliate school of Martial Science University teaching American Chuán Fa. He furthers his martial science education into American Chuán Fa and travels to Los Angeles for intensive training at the annual MSU Instructor Camps.
