Dr. Jan GuyPassion, diligence and determination paved the way for Jan M. Guy, Dsc, MFS, PA-C, to move up the ranks to  Deputy Coroner for Kern County Sheriffs Department. With more than 9 years of experience in Medicine, Dr. Guy has gained proficiency in the field of Occupational Medicine. Prior to her current endeavors, she spent several years working with the U.S. Public Health Service as a Lieutenant Commander, and served as a Major in the U.S. Army, from which she was honorably discharged.

In recognition of her hard work and commitment to service, she has been bestowed with a number of military medals, awards and ribbons. She has received a Bronze Star Medal, an Expeditionary Medal, a National Defense Service Medal, a Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, a Korea Defense Service Medal, an Army Service Ribbon and the Overseas Service Ribbon. She has also been given multiple awards from the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps.

Dr. Guy received a Doctorate in Science from Rockville University and a Master’s degree in Forensic Science from National University. She also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Science, and a Bachelors Degree in Spanish from California State University, Dominguez Hills. Currently in pursuit of a second doctoral degree, in Public Policy and Administration at Walden University, Dr. Guy has also been inducted into the Pi Alpha Alpha honor society, and remains up to date in her field through affiliation with several medical associations. She is a member of the American College of Forensic Examiners Institute, the Association of Family Practice Physician and NCCPA. She is also associated with the National Commission on Correctional Health Care, the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine.
